LEGAL EDUCATION IN RUSSIA FROM THE STUDENTS' POINT OF VIEW: TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGES

The improvement of higher legal education is the most important task of the Russian Federation at the present stage. Solving the problems faced by lawyers required a high level of professionalism and competence, since people’s lives often depended on those solutions. At the same time, modern higher legal education in Russia is characterised by certain negative trends. Purpose: to analyse the problems of modern higher legal education in Russia and develop on this basis separate recommendations for its development and improvement. Methods: the research is based on dialectical, system-structural, formal-legal, sociological methods, as well as an empirical method (50 students studying at the Institute of Law in the field of «Jurisprudence» and «National Security» were questioned using a specially designed questionnaire). Results: the study allowed us to identify certain areas of modern higher legal education improvement in the Russian Federation, in particular its individualisation, links with practice and the focus of education on the formation of student interest in the disciplines studied and the desire to self-study.
